The mission of the Nyamwange Foundation is rooted in a quest to identify strategies to improve the lives of children in urban cities. A key pillar in fulfilling this mission is education and a significant component of our educational initiative is providing post-secondary education scholarships to High School students attending Jersey City Public Schools that demonstrate a growth mindset.

The Nyamwange Foundation Scholarship annually awards 3 incoming ninth-grade students with $1,000 each, to be used towards any college-related costs. Awards are based on the applicant’s academic performance, leadership qualities, and the strength of their application. Recipients of the Nyamwange Scholarship Award are automatically enrolled in our Leadership Development Program and are celebrated during our Annual Scholarship Dinner.

ELIGIBILITY

• Eighth Grade Student in Jersey City Public Schools

• Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

• Committed to participating in the Leadership Development Program and attending Nyamwange Foundation events

• Complete and submit an application with all other required materials by the specified submission date

2022-2023 applications are now available. Remember that applicants are being considered for both the Nyamwange Foundation Scholarship as well as the Nyamwange Leadership Academy.
