The root of our mission here at the Nyamwange Foundation is to create strategies that improve the lives of children in urban cities. We understand that Black and brown children entering high school are poised for leadership. They are ready to engage with complex topics that inspire the type of growth, development, and self-motivation needed to impact their communities in the years leading up to graduation … and beyond. We’ve discovered that immersive educational experiences drastically change young lives.  This is why we provide post-secondary education scholarships to Jersey City Public High School students who demonstrate a growth mindset.

Each year, the Nyamwange Foundation Scholarship awards three incoming ninth-grade students $1,000 each, to be used towards any college-related costs. Awards are based on the applicant’s academic performance, leadership qualities, and the strength of their application. Recipients of the Nyamwange Scholarship Award are automatically enrolled in our Leadership Development Program and are celebrated during our Annual Scholarship Gala.

 ELIGIBILITY 

• Eighth Grade Student in Jersey City Public Schools

• Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

• Committed to participating in our four-year leadership development program through the Nyamwange Leadership Academy, and attending Nyamwange Foundation events

• Complete and submit an application, with all other required materials by the specified submission date
